PRAYER GOALS FOR 2025
2025 Theme: God is love!
1 John 4:8 ESV Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
The main point of Christian witness is not bible knowledge, or religious language, or politics, or spirituality, or doctrine… but love! To live with love for our neighbours and family. In these times we live in, there is not enough love. We will review the basics of Christianity by reading the epistles of John, the “disciple Jesus loved”. We will read through 1 John verse by verse and preach through the letters section by section.
As we continue the first year of ministry under our new name, Mountain Creek Community Church, and as we partner to begin a brand-new Chinese ministry called Glory Church, we ask for steadfast love. Jesus, help us…
2025 Church Prayer Goals:
1. To love with steadfast love
e.g., We will lean into God’s love to know how to better love each other: one church north and south.
2. To do justice
e.g., We will intentionally connect with the strong community ties we already have (ECA, TCS, Camp) to see where we can serve our children, youth and underprivileged.
3. To walk humbly
e.g., We will aim to partner with True Light and Glory Church in humility and selflessness as an extension of our learning to love.
Memory Verse:
Micah 6:8 ESV He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love steadfast love, and to walk humbly with your God?
Expanded Prayers:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, these are our three prayer goals for 2025…
1. Love: To love with steadfast love.
Father, give us renewal in loving character (1Jn4:7). Help us develop new loving practices. Build in me the capacity to experience your deep love (Eph.1:17-18, 3:17-19). We wish for a deeper understanding of “love”; your definition of love, not just a human love, but to love God and to act on it. We pray against a spirit of poverty (which feels like slavery and death), and into a spirit of loving generosity (which is freedom and life; 2Cor.5:14). Without overthinking it, let us embrace humility instead of pride.
Help us lean into your love to know how to better love each other: one church north and south. In so doing, make MCCC a beacon of light to attract our neighbours to Christ! Let us be inviting and accepting to those who do not know you yet.
For our singles and families, we desire growth and connection with new and old. Let us see increasing connection and new people and relationships as you will. Help us to find ways to do that. Grow our faith and friendships. And for our ministries, we desire to be a safe space in ministry. In our communities, lead us to simple acts of love and kindness.
2. Light: To do justice.
Holy Spirit, let us be light in our communities. We battle in prayer against spiritual enemies as you direct. As we do so, help us to be humble and earnest, with thanksgiving! We pray for peace and ways to put what we know into practice. And help us to prioritize the “least of these”.
We ask for justice in the sense of proper and fitting plans. We trust you to come up with the next plans for our church. Show us where we need to change our processes and where stagnancy can be disrupted. We prepare for something divine to happen. Give our leadership the wisdom to do as God wills. We pray for our LT and staff development, to grow and model obedience, and to develop future leaders. We align with your definition of success.
In our extended community, help us to intentionally connect with the strong community ties we already have (ECA, TCS, Camp) to see where we can serve our children, youth and underprivileged. We desire to see a thriving camp spiritually unified and financially sound with a debt remediation plan and giving in place. Let camp be a place where leaders are developed. Bless the spaces around us: The Edgemont Community Association, Trinity Christian School, the Edgemont School and Midnapore School too. Give us more community assignments in the north and the south, we pray.
3. Life: To walk humbly
Jesus, we want to be like you. Help us to grow in prayerfulness, deeper in love with you, and more like you as your disciples. We want your life. We want to know who you were and who you are, how you were counter-cultural and what were your practices. Help us live humbly.
Help us live for others. For children, build up our Discovery Zone and youth, north and south. For Glory Church, let us be effective partners with True Light. Bless our new church plant with new Christians and baptisms! We aim to partner with True Light and Glory Church in humility and selflessness as an extension of our learning to love.
We want to grow deeper in love with you. Help us pay attention to how you are near. We want more of your non-anxious presence and to be filled by you. We want to live life abundantly in freedom!
Conclusion:
Again, Lord, we ask for renewal of loving character, growth and connection with new and old, wisdom to do as God wills, a thriving camp, blessed spaces, and community assignments, special blessings on our youth and young adults, and an effective partnership in church planting.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, hear our prayer goals for 2025. Amen.
